Notes: Place beans in a large pot and rinse several times. Add water, onion, garlic and lard. Cover and cook on medium for 2 hours. Add ham bone, ham and bay leaves. Cook, covered, to a creamy consistency, about 3 to 4 hours. Salt and pepper to taste. Serve over rice. Serves 15.
  • 2 lb. red beans
  • 5 qt. water
  • 2 slices onions
  • 2 cloves chopped garlic
  • 5 chopped bay leaves
  • 1 regular ham bone
  • 1 lb.cubed seasoned ham
  • 2 tsp. lard
  • Salt and Pepper to your taste.
