Monkey Bread

Make as described but roll balls in ADAMS VANILLA CINNAMON SUGAR after dipping in butter. A glaze of equal parts confectioners sugar and water can be made to pour over baked cinnamon monkey bread.

Recipe

Ingredients:
  • 2 packages (cakes) yeast
  • 1 cup lukewarm water
  • 1 cup shortening
  • 1 cup boiling water
  • 1 1/2 tsp SALT
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 6 cups flour
  • 1/2 pound margarine
Directions:
Dissolve yeast in lukewarm water. Melt shortening in boiling water, add salt and sugar and cool. Add eggs, yeast mixture, and flour and beat together slowly. Knead until blended well. Let dough sit in bowl and rise until it has doubled (1-1.5 hours). Melt Margarine. Make golf ball-size balls out of dough, dip in margarine and drop in tube pan. Let rise again for another 30 minutes. Heat oven to 350 degrees. Bake for 30 minutes. Yields 2 pans of bread.
